Twin home-ground events will kick off the 2017 season for the Gulf Western Oil-sponsored Team Bray outfit next week.

Team Bray and its Gulf Western Oil Doorslammers will take to Willowbank Raceway on both Wednesday the 4th of January and Saturday the 7th of January, for two big events.

On the 4th, Victor and Ben Bray – who hold nine national championships between them – will each take on USA Drag Week veteran Larry Larson at the Outlaw Armageddon event.

On the 7th, both father and son and their Gulf Western Oil machines will again be in action, this time to compete in the latest round of the 400 Thunder Pro Slammer championship chase as part of the Series’ New Years Thunder event.

“With the support of Gulf Western Oil we here at Team Bray have a really action-packed schedule coming up for 2017, including drag racing events all over the country plus burn out shows, Supercars events, and appearances at agricultural shows and more,” explained team principal Victor Bray.

“As Queenslanders, we couldn’t think of a better way for us to kick off such a huge year and give Gulf Western Oil their first taste of the action with us than to undertake a double header at our home-track, Willowbank Raceway.

“Over the holiday season everyone here has been working hard to make sure that we are ready to throw everything at it for 2017 – and that has included everything from the cars and the crew to my own personal fitness, and now we are ready and rearing to go!”

With the new Gulf Western Oil backing, the upcoming Willowbank Events will also host the return of Victor ‘back in black’.

“In 1995 I debuted a new Doorslammer in Flat Black at the Willowbank New Year Series, and since then, we have carried many different liveries,” said Victor Bray.

“I have always loved the black and it is a fan favourite too, so we have been very excited to bring it back with the support of Gulf Western Oil and to have it make its race debut at Willowbank Raceway in the New Year.”

The new partnership with Gulf Western Oils was announced on December 16, at an event attended by more than 150 Gulf Western Oil dealers from across the country. Gulf Western Oil is the largest Australian-owned manufacturer of lubricants in Australia with OEM approved formulations and is ISO 9001 quality endorsed. It has a comprehensive distributor network throughout Australia, India, Vietnam, China, PNG, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, Kiribati & Samoa, offering an extensive range of products including diesel engine oils, petrol engine oils, hydraulic oils, gear lubricants, transmission fluids, grease, aerosols, coolants and cleaners.
